Sponsorship

DeMarchi Media is currently involved in the sponsorship of a short film project that's being developed by Frogmore Road Productions who are located in Perth, Western Australia.

Whilst sponsorship is not a regular part of the business activities of DeMarchi Media, this particular project has an number of attractive and educational aspects to it that made it a worthwhile project to assist in funding.

The project, titled San Escurido, is the creation of Peter Clarke and is part of his work in his studies for an honours degree in Film & Television Production at Murdock University in Perth.

The name of the city 'San Escurido' (Pronounced San Skreedo) translates from Portuguese as 'Saint Darkness'.

Peter's thesis statement is as follows:

"To research and analyse the types and 'genres' of screen violence used by filmmakers to position audiences in a particular way. Based on those elements of screen violence that have affected me most and how filmmakers use violence to invoke an intended reaction from an audience. My aim is also to mature my views on how and why those certain types of brutality affect me in the way they do. Based on others analysis of screen violence and phenomenology and by scrutinising my own phenomenological responses to screen violence I intend to ultimately concoct a specific audience response to 'my' violence and try to realise that on screen."

Whilst the production is still a work in progress, more information about the project can be obtained by visiting the San Escurido website. The film is expected to be completed in August 2009.
